Mumbai University will take controller exam interviews on Oct 5

Mumbai University will conduct interviews for the post of examination controller on October 5. This is the third time in a year the university is attempting to fill the post, lying vacant since Dinesh Bhonde quit in August 2015. Fourteen candidates had applied after the university released an advertisement seeking applications; nine are shortlisted for interviews.

The university had released an advertisement in January too. But after shortlisting five candidates for interviews, the process was called off after the state government said no new appointments should be made till the Maharashtra Public Universities Bill is passed. While the Act is yet to become a reality, the university has decided to go ahead with appointments with a modification in the post’s tenure. “We have mentioned that the controller’s term will be for five years or as per the provisions of the Act once implemented,” said university registrar M A Khan.
The controller’s job is the most controversial and stressful in the university and none have completed their five-year tenures. In fact, most had quit after a year.
